Mark Alan “O.B.” Wilds, the son of Donald Eugene and Marjorie Elizabeth (Wendt) Wilds, was born on January 10, 1956, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He grew up in Hancock, Iowa, and attended the Avoca (Iowa) Public Schools through the eighth grade. The family moved to Shelby, Iowa, where O.B. attended Shelby-Tennant Public Schools and graduated from Shelby-Tennant High School in 1974. He enrolled as a student at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, majoring in “extra-curricular activities.” O.B. opened and operated The Sirloin Cellar Restaurant for four years, and then started O.B. Wilds Drywall. He also worked at Wickman Drywall.

On June 11, 1983, O.B. married Sandi Jane Kiesel in Shelby, Iowa. The couple had two children, Eric and Megan, before later divorcing. O.B. enjoyed spending time with his children and sharing his hobbies with them. He taught them how to fish, and loved to go camping, boating, and fishing as a family.

O.B. loved cooking, and had worked as a cook for Lori Tiarks at Old Main Street Grille in Avoca. He also did harvesting work for Bill and Jerod Johnson of Avoca. It was hard for O.B. to find time to work between his many hobbies. O.B. like to fish and participated in tournament bass fishing with Leroy Kadel, liked to hunt for mushrooms with his mom and siblings, and playing Pitch with his friends at the Exchange several times a week, winning a few tournaments. He was also involved in league pool and loved spending time with his family.

Mark A. “O.B.” Wilds died on Monday, June 10, 2019, at his home in Shelby, Iowa. He had reached the age of 63 years and 5 months.
